Established in 1792, the Mint is an integral part of the Department of the Treasury. Numismatic products include medals, proof coins, uncirculated coins, platinum, gold, and silver bullion coins, and commemorative coins.
Manufacture of numismatic products is financed principally through sales to the public. Manufacture of circulating coinage is financed through sales of coins at face value to the Federal Reserve System. |
