The large mintage for this date is of little help in securing a gem. The dies were used until quite worn, resulting in dull luster and grainy fields. Softness in the stars, lower wreath and Liberty's forecurl are not unusual, and the coin illustrated is a truly superior specimen.
One re-punched date variety is reported, but the re-punching is so slight as to be of no interest to general series collectors..
