This year witnessed the lowest mintage of cents at Philadelphia for the entire Lincoln series. Not since 1877 had so few cents been struck there.

Very difficult for collectors to obtain at the time, 1932(P) cents saw limited distribution, and many hobbyists bought their examples directly from the U. S. Treasury at face value plus postage. Such purchases were restricted to no more than two coins of each date, mint and denomination. A year or two later the balance of the mintage was released, and this date is no longer rare.

1932(P) cents were quite well made overall, and finding a well struck piece with bright, red color is not too difficult. Worn examples were much scarcer in circulation than earlier dates, but these too are common enough to fill everyone's penny folder.
