Notes: Starting this year, the Philadelphia Mint began using the “P” mint mark on the nickel, dime, quarter, and half dollar. The cent still remained without a mint mark.
As in the prior year, in addition to the standard five-coin souvenir sets, a three-coin set was offered including the 1980-P, 1980-D, and 1980-S Susan B. Anthony Dollars. These sets were in an envelope containing the text “The 1980 Dollar Souvenir Set” with a picture of the dollar coins. An informational insert was included in some of the sets describing the significance of the obverse and reverse design of the coin. Once again, these three-coin sets had significantly higher production numbers, likely into the hundreds of thousands of units.
