In A Guide Book of Flying Eagle and Indian Head Cents, author Rick Snow reported that the planchets used for this year's cent production were purchased from the Scovill Manufacturing Company of Waterbury, CT.
Examples are fairly common in all circulated grades, and Mint State pieces of mixed quality are likewise common. Gems are elusive.
Given its large mintage, there's no surprise that cents dated 1890 have revealed numerous varieties
