This low-mintage cent is scarce in all circulated grades, while Mint State examples are particularly elusive. Most such coins are reasonably well struck, the example illustrated being fairly representative. A few are exceptionally sharp, mimicking the appearance of proofs.
Coins having full red color that is original and not the result of a chemical dipping are very rare. This practice was at one time common and acceptable, but today's buyers are far more discriminating.
