The Mint's experiment with an enlarged star between LIBERTY and the date was abandoned after 1958, and this feature returned to its normal size.
Collectors will need to shop carefully for this issue, as the quality of luster, strike and surfaces all vary wildly. Fortunately the late 1950s through the mid 1960s was the era of BU roll and bag hoarding, with countless Mint State survivors from which to choose. 5FS coins are quite scarce, 6FS pieces being genuinely rare.
Several minor doubled-die reverse varieties are known, one of which is strong enough to have fairly broad appeal.
