This 1965 United States Mint set is the 18th year of issue. In 1965 the U.S. Mint reorganized it's collectible coinage division. It moved its Proof Set manufacturing from the Philadelphia Mint to the fabled San Francisco Mint. Regular production was "re-opened" in 1968. Between 1965 and 1967 the U.S. Mint didn't create a Mint Set or Proof Set....instead it created a hybrid called the "Special Mint Set", aka: "SMS" for short. This SMS set includes a single Cent, Nickel, Dime, Quarter, and Half Dollar.
