The 1973 Kennedy Half Dollar was struck for circulation at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints. Production registered a lull between the higher previous and subsequent years. Typically, the Denver Mint coins will be more sharply struck and in higher grades.
The proof version of the coin was struck at the San Francisco Mint and carries the “S†mint mark. Starting this year, it became standard for the majority of proof coins to display deep cameo frosting on both the obverse and reverse.
