The sheer number of cents coined at the Philadelphia Mint has made this a very common coin in all grades through Mint State. Fully red gems are available to advanced collectors, but some of these will be lacking some fine details as a consequence of die wear.
As with so many early Lincoln Cents, the U. S. Mint's Engraving Department failed to recognize that numeral 5 of the date should have a long tail. It would not be until 1950 that this error was overcome.
