1935(P) is common in all grades.

Some examples are weak in the central obverse, but well struck coins are available. 1935(P) is another coin for which luster varies dramatically from one piece to the next. Even so, there are quite a large number displaying really outstanding luster, which is almost always of a frosty texture. As is often the case with Buffalo Nickels, the most lustrous coins seem to be a bit softly struck, while the really sharp examples have more muted luster.

Varieties:

  • The most desirable variety for this date is the spectacular doubled-die reverse (FS-1935-801).
  • Two less dramatic doubled-die reverse varieties are also known (FS-1935-802,-803), but their values are much lower.
  • The 2-leg nickels of this date occasionally seen are contemporary counterfeits.
  • Finally, this date is a rich hunting ground for cud breaks. In addition to the bison’s familiar cap, another variety is known with the letters TS in CENTS obliterated.
