While perhaps not as common as 1926(P) and 1927(P) in fully red gem condition, this issue is nonetheless available to the advanced collector. Most are well struck from fresh or, at worst, moderately worn dies. The installation during Fiscal Year 1928 of a chromium plating plant at the Philadelphia Mint likely explains the greater durability of the dies.
