Limited Edition! Only 100,000 of the 2001 New York Official First Day Coin Covers will be produced. This wonderful collector's item features two New York quarters from the first day of mintage -- December 11, 2000. Each cover includes quarters from both the Philadelphia and Denver mint facilities on a handsome display card with a 34-cent Statue of Liberty postage stamp. The postmark of January 2, 2001 in Albany marks the day the first New York quarters were released to the Federal Reserve Bank and to the public. The New York quarter was the first quarter issued in 2001. It features the Statue of Liberty superimposed over an outline of the state along with the inscription "Gateway to Freedom." Also incorporated into the state outline is a line tracing the Hudson River and the route of the Erie Canal.
